Bernie’s Nuts but Kamala is Vicious

Bernie may be daft but Kamala is vicious. If you don’t like the fake Republicans who claim to support free markets while endorsing the most anti-capitalist president in a long time, then you won’t like the hypocrisy of Kamala Harris.

She was a vicious prosecutor who was thrilled to send people to prison over the slightest of things. She wants to present a fake version of herself by suddenly being more soft and even supporting legalization of pot. She laughed and told one radio show regarding using pot, “I have. And I inhaled — I did inhale. It was a long time ago. But, yes.”

So, she used pot and NOW she supports legalization. Up until she suddenly thought herself presidential material — and I wouldn’t hire to clean my bathroom — she was prosecuting people for using pot and sending them off to prison and vehemently AGAINST legalization.

Worse she was sending people to prison for doing what she now laughingly admits doing herself!

Caught as a typical hypocrite with one position in office and another when seeking office, Harris tries to turn her imprisoning people into one big joke. CNN reported:

“They say you oppose legalizing weed,” he said.

“That’s not true. And look I joke about it, half joking — half my family’s from Jamaica, are you kidding me,” Harris replies, laughing.

“No, I do not — no, no. I have had concerns, the full record, I have had concerns, which I think — first of all, let me just make this statement very clear, I believe we need to legalize marijuana,” she said. “Now, that being said — and this is not a ‘but,’ it is an ‘and’ — and we need to research, which is one of the reasons we need to legalize it. We need to move it on the schedule so that we can research the impact of weed on a developing brain. You know, that part of the brain that develops judgment, actually begins its growth at age 18 through age 24.”

“But I am absolutely in favor of legalizing marijuana. We’ve got to do it,” she said later in the interview. “We have incarcerated so many, and particularly young men and young men of color, in a way that we have not for the same level of use (among) other young men.”

So, she tries to play both sides explaining why she was opposed but saying NOW it’s different. Odd she can’t give the same kind of detailed answer as to why it should be legal, other than saying “we have incarcerated so many.” No, Kamala, WE didn’t do it. I had no part of it. YOU did it and you were doing it up to very, very recently, until you suddenly were struck with visions of grandeur. Read her answer again and notice how she is already presenting arguments for why new restrictions have to be placed on marijuana use AFTER legalization. She presents an argument to banning pot to anyone under the age of 25, while presenting herself as an advocate of legalization.

If Tulsi Gabbard can be believed—and I rarely take the word of a politician at face value—Harris put a lot of those young men she weeps over into prison herself:

“There are too many examples to cite, but she put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana,” Gabbard said.

“She blocked evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row until the courts forced her to do so,” Gabbard added. “She kept people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of California, and she fought to keep the cash bail system in place. That impacts poor people in the worst kind of way.”

Harris said she’s proud of her record of putting people in prison. But which is it? Have we put too many in prison or is she proud of imprisoning them? A column at the New York Times noted Harris was no progressive prosecutor—which means she was no damn libertarian either. She was a fervent prosecutor with all the zeal of a racist Republican. The Times article rips Harris apart and deservedly so:

“… Harris fought tooth and nail to uphold wrongful convictions that had been secured through official misconduct that included evidence tampering, false testimony and the suppression of crucial information by prosecutors.

…Harris also championed state legislation under which parents whose children were found to be habitually truant in elementary school could be prosecuted, despite concerns that it would disproportionately affect low-income people of color.

Ms. Harris was similarly regressive as the state’s attorney general. When a federal judge in Orange County ruled that the death penalty was unconstitutional in 2014, Ms. Harris appealed. In a public statement, she made the bizarre argument that the decision “undermines important protections that our courts provide to defendants.” (The approximately 740 men and women awaiting execution in California might disagree).

… She laughed … when a reporter asked if she would support the legalization of marijuana for recreational use.

…she opposed a bill requiring her office to investigate shootings involving officers. And she refused to support statewide standards regulating the use of body-worn cameras by police officers.”

Harris is an unprincipled as a Republican these days. They are hypocrites about free markets — saying one thing and doing another. Harris is a hypocrite about pot and criminal reform — saying one thing and doing another. Worse is that she incarcerated people for doing what she herself admits to have done. Her record is that of a rabid authoritarian, there is nothing libertarian in her.
