I don't see a bottom-up embracing of Q for "Queer" at all. Surveys showed 95% of LGBT people will not use the term. But certain activists have embraced it and trying to force it on everyone else. But it isn't permeating the rank and file community.

And for many it bring back memories of harassment, bullying and abuse and causes them to relive traumatic events. I personally consider using it as disrespectful to millions for whom the word is going to do nothing but cause them to relive painful experiences. I would never use the term, not because I experience a lot of trauma from it, I just find it absurd and childish, but because so many others suffer when they hear it.
