You can find in the words attributed to Jesus—no one knows what he actually said—both sides of the question. He said he came not to bring peace but a sword and said he would set fathers against son, husbands against wives, etc. He spoke of eternal damnation and contempt for this world.

Given the only accounts that claim to report the words of Jesus were written decades after he died, and were based on other accounts that have vanished, and no one knows who wrote them, no one on earth knows what Jesus did or didn’t say. We can say what the unknown authors of the gospels claimed he said, but they don’t always agree with each other.
